Biography

Bonnie Belle Jacobsen, 80, died Saturday October 24, 2009 at the Crestview Care and Rehab Center in West Branch.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Wednesday October 28, 2009 at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4 to 7 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the West Branch Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.

Bonnie was born September 27, 1929 in Iowa City the daughter of Floyd and Zelda Blake Hoffman. She was a graduate of West Branch High School. On January 7, 1948 she was united in marriage to John Jacobsen. She had been employed with Pioneer Seed Corn in Downey for several years and later at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics until her retirement.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star, and Centerdale Women’s Club. She enjoyed playing cards, the outdoors, birds and animals, especially cats. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include two children: Dennis (Phyllis) Jacobsen and Kathleen Jacobsen all of West Branch. Also surviving are 3 Grandchildren, John (Christine) Jacobsen, Anne Jacobsen and Daniel Jacobsen. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John in 1990, infant twin sons, and brother Thomas.
