Cody A. Geertz, 19, died Sunday May 18, 2008 at his home in Nichols.

A memorial service with a time of sharing will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday May 22, 2008 at the West Liberty Community Center, 1204 North Calhoun St. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4 to 8 P.M. at the Community Center. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Cody Geertz memorial fund. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty is in charge of arrangements.

Cody was born July 11, 1988 in Iowa City the son of Cyle Geertz and Kimberly Terpenning Brossart. He was a graduate of West Liberty High School in the class of 2007. He was employed with West Liberty Foods.

He was a member of Team Harddrive MMA and the Sons of the American Legion #27 in Muscatine. He enjoyed mixed martial arts, fishing and his dog Buddy. Cody will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Survivors include his parents: Cyle and Lee Geertz of Nichols and Kim and Russ Brossart of Muscatine. Two brothers: Ben Geertz of Nichols and Nash Jones of Muscatine. Two sisters: Jordan Geertz of Nichols and Mackenzie McCracken of Muscatine. Step sister: Jayde Brossart and step brother: Blake Brossart both of Muscatine. Grandparents: Charles and Carolyn Geertz of Nichols, Roger Lovell of Nichols, Phil Terpenning of Marshalltown and Pam Ramer of Muscatine. He is also survived by his special friend Stephanie Walker of Nichols, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Mary Lovell.
